Diary - Page 88 - Culture and History without Borders: Success in Diversity, Diversity in Success - Project chronicle - Part 1 87 WORKSHOP 7 – Handcrafts 88 WORKSHOP 8 – Christmas at the San Tommaso d’Aquino school 20th December 2016 Today we are all busy with the preparation of the Christmas decorations of our school. We are making Christmas balls, paper ribbons to decorate the school: a star, a promise in a Christmas card, a crib and here it is CHRISTMAS! 89 WORKSHOP 9 – Visit to Paestum 18th May 2017 Last 18th May we visited Paestum archaeological site. Paestum is situated on the Tyrrhenian coast, on the south of Salerno. The oldest traces of human settlement date back to the Palaeolithic Period. Around 600 BC the Greeks from Sybaris founded a city. The temples are dedicated to Athena and Hera that are still well preserved. During the visit we have also assisted to a dramatization performed on the Athena temple. We have also visited the museum with lots of interesting ancient finds. 90 The most important one is the "TUFFATORE" tomb that was of a Greek diver, t's the biggest evidence of Greek painting. It is realized by using the fresco technique. 91 WORKSHOP 12 – Singing May 2016 In this workshop we are learning the Italian version of the Auld lang syne (Valzer delle candele), the song chosen by all partners as a Farewell song of our project. We have learnt it also in English. We have also learnt an Italian song 'Volare', famous all over the world and become a symbol of our country, we would like to sing it with our friends in the next mobility. Friends of the world We have written this song thinking about the experience we are having, it talks about the happiness we are feeling meeting students from other countries and sharing this project activities with them. We are students, we stay with you we are happy to meet you! All together in this place To have a wonderful Stay We are students, We like school And we’re happy To stay with you Beautiful days Run fast away but we’ll meet You again Thanks for all Friends of the world This song is just for you All. 92 WORKSHOP 11 – Meeting a survivor of the Dachau concentration camp 27th January 2017 On 27th January, on the occasion of the Holocaust Memorial Day, we have guested in our school a special person. His name is Antonio Iacuzzo, he is a survivor of the Dachau concentration camp. Antonio is a sculptor, he has created lots of beautiful wooden sculptures. 93 This in the photo is one of his works. It has been really touching to hear the story of his terrible days in the camp. We have asked him lots of questions at the end he has told us to feel really lucky to be still alive. We have greeted Antonio with the wonderful song "La vita è bella",sung by our schoolmates of primary school. 94 WORKSHOP 12 – Cooking February 2017 These are two typical Italian deserts that we make especially at Carnival! 95 WORKSHOP 13 – Carnival 28th February 2017 It's Carnival, one of the most famous festivals in our country. Everywhere in Italy, in this day, people wear funny clothes, prepare masks parades and celebrate this festival dancing and eating a lot of food! At our school we have worn our costumes and we have visited all the classes of the institute, singing, making jokes and having lot of fun! 97 WORKSHOP 1 – Archaeological Museum in Biskupin 14th November 2015 Pupils from our school went on a trip to Biskupin on 14th November 2015. They took part in a craft workshop. They learned to make jewellery from copper wires. Am 14 November sind die Schüler aus unserer Schule nach Biskupin gefahren. Sie haben teil an handwerklichen Workshops teilgenommen. Sie haben gelernt, wie man früher Schmück gemacht hat. Dnia 14 listopada 2015 roku uczniowie naszej szkoły wyruszyli w podróż do Biskupina. Uczestniczyli w warsztatach rzemieślniczych. Nauczyli się robid biżuterię z drutów miedzianych, tak jak robiono to dawno temu.. Later, they visited the Archaeological Museum and old settlements. They could see how people lived in those days.
