Substitutes observing unauthorized visitors should notify the school administration immediately. Substitutes are also expected to wear their substitute stickers in a visible location at all times. PASSES: STUDENTS Students are expected to: • have their agendas with them (students ARE NOT allowed to use each others’ agendas). • remain in their assigned areas during classes and in their assigned team area during their lunch periods. • have hall passes (in agenda) when out of the classroom for any reason other than lunch, directed study, or exploratory classes. Teachers are asked not to give students passes for unscheduled visits to other classrooms during any class period. If a teacher needs to work with a student during the Directed Study period, the student will have a pass from the teacher requesting to see that student (time and location will also be on the pass). FYI • Student bathrooms are located on each wing for each grade level. • Students ARE NOT allowed in grade-level wings other than their own. • Faculty bathrooms are for adult use only, no exceptions. • Drink machines are for adult use only, no exceptions. 79 ENTRY & EXIT ROUTINES Building: Students are to enter or exit through the doors nearest their wing unless they are going to eat breakfast in the cafeteria. Students eating breakfast are to enter through the front doors and go directly to the cafeteria each morning. • Morning Arrival - Teachers are expected to be at their doors welcoming students at the beginning of the day, unless the teacher has an assigned duty (found in this sub book). • Class Changes – Students have four minutes between classes during which time they are expected to get necessary supplies and report DIRECTLY to their next class. Students are expected to “be on the hall on which they have class.” • Lunches - Teachers escort their students to and from lunch each day. • Dismissal - Teachers are expected to supervise students as they leave the building each day. Students are expected to walk as they use the exits nearest their classroom or wing. EMERGENCY DRILLS Refer to the emergency procedure information and the evacuation map included in this folder. Take sub folder with rosters along with you and the students to the designated location. Make a note of students out of the classroom with passes to other locations. LCMS staff members will be glad to assist you throughout any emergency drill. LCMS STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES All students at Louisa County Middle School are expected to handle their growing independence responsibly. All staff will help students to learn and understand their overall responsibilities as citizens by presenting and reinforcing the following expectations: 1. Listen and follow directions 2. Come prepared for class 3. Be respectful to all adults, peers, and property • Be in place with proper materials when class begins • Keep hands, feet, and objects to oneself • Use appropriate language and voice levels at all times • Do not interrupt a speaker or worker 4. Be on time for class 5. Abide by the Code of Conduct 80 TEACHERS: Replace this page with your emergency drill procedures (route and destination during fire drills, location of class during tornado drills, procedure for a lockdown drill, and anything else you feel needs to be added).
